The Commission consults stakeholders to clarify the EU competition rules applicable to collective bargaining agreements for self-employed

The European Commission is currently looking to clarify the applicability of EU competition rules to collective bargaining by solo self-employed.

The Commission has launched an open public consultation inviting comments from stakeholders on the different policy options and their likely impact. The objective is to ensure that the views of the public and stakeholders are well reflected in the impact assessment and to ensure transparency and accountability of the impact assessment process.

The stakeholder groups interested in the evaluation process are mainly:

(i) self-employed individuals;

(ii) businesses, including SMEs and association of businesses;

(iii) trade unions and employers organizations;

(iv) national competition authorities and government bodies;

(v) consumers;

(vi) academics with a focus on competition and/or labour law; and

(vii) legal and economic advisers.

Stakeholders can respond to the online questionnaire by 28 May 2021.
