Questionnaire for suppliers in the agri-food supply chain

The Commission launches an annual survey to assess the effectiveness of measures to protect farmers and small businesses in the agricultural supply chain and food supply resulting from Directive (EU) 2019/633.

These provisions are designed to protect farmers and small business operators against certain large operators in the agricultural and food supply chain who have significant bargaining power over their suppliers and could be tempted to abuse their position to impose unfair trading practices.

To ensure better protection for farmers and small business operators, the Law of 1 June 2021 on business-to-business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain prohibits certain unfair trading practices between suppliers and buyers of agricultural and food products and lists certain practices that may be authorised only with clear prior approval.

Suppliers in the agricultural or food sector who believe that they have been the victim of a prohibited unfair commercial practice, or their representatives, may lodge a complaint with the Competition Authority.
